Things have been amazing. Seriously, simply amazing. I am loving this new job like none other. I mean, I get paid to hang out with kids all day, rock climb, work on an outdoors ropes course, go on hikes and so much more!
I have a little story to tell you about this new job and about conquering tiny little fears.
You see, there is this element in our outdoor ropes course called the 'trapeze jump.' What it entails is climbing up a (roughly) fifty-foot telephone pole and then standing on the top of it. Mind you, it's a telephone pole, so it sways a bit as you climb it and when you move it moves a little. Granted, it moves a lot less than you think, but still. After you have successfully climbed and balanced on top of the telephone pole, you leap off said telephone pole and grab onto a trapeze which is hanging also roughly fifty feet in the air. And then you let go and you are lowered slowly to the ground where you are amazed at your courage (and, perhaps, stupidity).
And, yes. You're right. I did it!
And it was AMAZING.
And just after I was done with my daredevil experience for the day we saw a bald eagle soaring over our beautiful campus and lake.
All in all, it was a pretty awesome day.
I'm still glad I took the leap and headed up to Maine for this job!
