Half-Year HodgePodge

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

How are we half-way through the year already?!
Seriously, someone make it slow down!
Maybe the HodgePodge will help...

1. Have you learned more from success or failure?

I think having success has made me more willing to venture out and try new things,
but when I really stop and think about what has taught me more?

Failure, honestly.

It's a great teacher.
It points out weaknesses, mistakes, areas that need improvement.

I think if we only ever had success, we'd never truly learn anything about ourselves or each other.

2. What did you call your grandparents when you were growing up?

Grandma & Grandpa - Mom's Side
Grandmother Mary - Dad's Side

3. You're invited to a luau...what do you bring to share?

Grass skirts for everyone!
Seriously, what's a luau without a grass skirt?

4. What one person's life story do you think everyone should know?

What a tough question.
Interesting, but really really hard to answer.

There are so many interesting, intriguing, and daunting people out there.
People who we should all know so we don't let their kind happen again,
or those whose lives we should all strive to emulate.

How to pick just one that all the world should know?

5. Don't sweat the small stuff - agree or disagree?

Agree that we shouldn't,
but recognize that it's the hardest thing to do.

6. When were you last on a river? Prettiest River? Etc?

Last summer I led a canoe trip down the St. Croix river in Maine.
And I loved (almost) every moment of it -
what an adventure!
loved the Croix!
Also, I loved the Danube in Budapest.
What a magnificent river with such a rich history.
It's such a defining feature of the city too,
and I know I grew to love seeing it every day of my time there.
friends along the bank of the Danube!
7. Favorite river/river's edge activity?

Paddling or floating on it,
of some kind.

Get me off the shore and into/onto the water!

8. Random Thought:

I'm off for ten days and then it's back to Summer Camp for this girl!
cannot wait to be back in the sun & fun
But "off" is relative - doctors appointments, weddings, bridal showers,
and I have to take my car in to get fixed after I got backed into on Sunday (!!!).
Happp Summer, Y'all!

  1. A ten day rest period is all good!! Enjoy the time off. As for your comment, white water rafting down the Colorado River...I would like to do that myself, but I have no one who wants to go with me. :::sigh:::

Yes, now that you mentioned it, sweating the small stuff IS the hardest thing to do.

  2. Your so sweet to bring grass skirts for everyone :) I should have said the River Seine in Paris, it was amazing. You have had some fun time on the rivers. Enjoy your time off even though it sounds busy.
