Time To Play Catch-Up

I am so out of it.

So. Out. Of. It.

Four trans-atlantic voyages in a month can do that to you, I guess. The hours on end of recycled air, the tiny microwaved boxes of food. (The free wine and after dinner drinks.) But still, I'm out of it. I've been in a perpetual state of jet-lag for almost a month. My body has decided that it will sleep when it well wants to, and I really have nothing to say on the matter.

And you know what? I don't care. I wouldn't have changed my decisions over the last month for anything. Going home when my Great Aunt got sick? It was worth it for being able to hold her hand when she was getting better and tell her I love her. Going home again to go to her funeral? It was worth it to be with my family, to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life.

There is nothing to regret on either of those decisions. I recognize how blessed I am to have been able to go home even once, let alone twice. I am so incredibly thankful for that. I can deal with making up work for the past few weeks and I can deal with getting my body back onto one time zone. Not going home wasn't an option for me either time.

  1. Hoping you get some naps between your catching up!

  2. Family first. If I didn't know it before (which I did) the point was driven home when my dad passed away this year. It's always worth it to be there when your family needs you.
