Carnevale di Venezia

Friday, March 4, 2011

So, I've been a bit neglect in my blogging.

Sorry about that - not having access to my Mac in my dorm room is distressing (the ethernet port in my precious MacBook died. Like, really died - and our dorm is not wireless except in the lobby. All my pictures go on my mac - so there needs to be internet on the MacBook in order for the pictures to get onto the blog). But fear not! I am still reading! (Mom left me her PC for internet usage in my room - all is not lost!) I'm just not commenting or writing as much as I would like.

But now, what you actually came here to read:

Carnival in Venice was amazing.

AMAZING!

As in, it was the best weekend adventure I could have imagined or even asked for.
I can't believe it's already come and gone!
It was crazy.

It was a whirlwind trip:
12 hours Budapest - Venice 8pm - 8am (with three stops at random rest stops in the middle of nowhere Europe); 12 hours in Venice 9am - 9pm; and 9 hours Venice - Budapest 9:30pm-6:30am (with two random stops).

But it was so worth it!
I had my gelato (LOTS of it)
I had some pasta.
I had paninis.
I found a UNC sillyband on the ground in one of the Venetian Squares (seriously - how awesomely insane and ironic is THAT!?)

Oh yeah - and I saw a LOT of people in costume.
The colors! The masks!
It was amazing.

And I bought a mask for me and one for my parents:
hand-made in Venice, Carnival Masks.
I'm a happy kid.

So, since carnivale is visual experience, I'll just let some of the 400+ pictures I took explain everything to you:

Hope you all have an AMAZING weekend!

  3. I cannot believe you experienced Carnival! I was in Venice this summer and remember thinking how cool it would be to return for it! Did you love it? It was one of my favorite cities - I had the most incredible meals and of course, lots of gelatto! :)
