Morning Star [Fastball]

Just in case any of you aren't up-to-date with your Hungarian daily news (and seriously, why would you not be?) today is going to be an interesting day. The Budapest Public Transportation Agency (BKV) is going on strike today in order to get better wages. This means that they're shutting down the bus lines, the HEV (local trains), and the trolleys/trams for an indefinite period of time. Luckily the metros will still be running, otherwise they would be completely devastating the city.

What does this mean for me?

Instead of leaving the dorm at 10:00 am to get to my 11:00am class, I need to leave around 9:30am. Why? Because now, instead of picking up the bus in front of the dorm I have to walk the mile to the metro station.

No, it probably won't take me a half hour to walk a mile (it better not!), but I'd rather have the extra time, just in case they've limited the number of metro cars running or some other mess.

Oh, did I mention it's FREEZING in Budapest? Because it is.

I'm going to be wearing my new Nike "Stay Warm" running tights and long sleeved shirt under my normal clothes, my new (on sale for $30 -Woo!) Columbia jacket, my new Nike "Stay Warm" gloves, my trusty UNC winter hart, and my new (not-your-average-sorority-girl-worn-with-mini-skirts-in-the-summer) Uggs. I'll probably die of heat once I get on a metro car or into school, but I will not freeze on my walk to the metro. No-sir-eeeeee.

I'm going to try to get back to posting pictures every day. I need to actually get myself to take some pictures! The city is too interesting to not.

Oh, and I'm half finished with one of my papers. That are due Friday. And I'm here, writing this, to distract myself from them. Good plan :)
