So, that post I just posted?
About Friday Fancies?
About Lilly Pulitzer?

Let me remind you...

Well, here's exactly what I'd get if I could.
(PS. OMG - have you seen the collection?
I mean, really?
Cause I WANT ALL OF IT!)

(click to enlarge)

As you can see,
though the contest said we only needed 2 Lilly pieces,
I couldn't help but make the whole outfit out of it.
I mean, how precious is all of that?
I like it cause it really hase that 'jungle' feel to it -
with the print of the dress (1) & the elephant(3) for luck.
I had to add a little sea in too, with the coral necklace (4),
becuase, well, I LOVE the ocean,
and can't stand to be too far away!
And those shoes (2)!!!
Those need to be mine, now, thank you.

Leave me a comment with a link to your Friday Fancies!
I want to drool at all your combinations too!

Happy Spring, no?

Sunday Funday & Giveaway Reminder

Sunday, March 28, 2010

*** re-re-reminder! enter my giveaway before it's too late! studies show that 9 out of 10 people that don't enter today will be sad, sad, sad! experts have said that people entering my giveaway [and thus, making me smile] will grant me extra points on my Latin exam tomorrow! hurry! while you still can!***

So, this week I thought, i need a break from my exams. I study hard, so why not? MannLand5 always hosts a weekly getting to know you (welcome to new people, btw! grab a cup of coffee, let's get to know each other!), and it's another great quick and to the point blogging idea!

1. Why did you start blogging?
Originally, just because I like writing;
Then, to talk about my to-become-a-doctor-process
Then, that got interrupted by my
Now grad school adventure to Budapest

2. Who's the one blog friend that you would want to meet most in "real life"?
There are too many of you to answer this at one!
Sam @ Life is Beautiful & New England Girl
- because they know what it means to have NE pride!
Joyce @ This Side of the Pond & Selma @ Crazy Little World of Mine
- because they know the ins & outs of life outside the US!
Katie @ Goodbye Animosity & Teresa @ TeresaBug
-because I think I just get how they think; good conversations to be had!
Can't you just see how good I am at decisions?

3. Why are you always concerned with losing that "extra 10 pounds" when chances are your husband/boyfriend/friends tell you that you look fine just the way you are?
For me it's not the weight;
For me it's not the size jeans I wear today, last year, or next month;
It's the lifestyle associated with those numbers that matters;
When I'm not active, I get depressed;
When I'm not active, there's something wrong.
Fencing is my sanity, my escape;
See? It's not the 10 lbs, it's so much more.

4. What's the one thing you wish guys could understand about you?
I don't interrupt people because I'm rude,
I interrupt because I have the memory of a goldfish,
and if i don't tell you rightthisverysecond i'll forget it.

5. Tattoos?
Nope, sorry.

6. What was the best year of your life and why?
2003-2004
First year of college;
First year of North Carolina;
Great friends, great fencing, great times.
Though, to quote Mr. J. Mayer
"I like to think the best part of me
is still hiding up my sleeve."

7. Name three things you would do if you were a man for one day.
pee. standing. up.
have hours long discussions about sports
(which i do now, but no one would look at me funny
over how passionate and involved i get)
talk about cars
(see reason above re: sports)

8.What's your alcoholic drink of choice that usually raises a few eyebrows?
i'm not that much of a drinker;
but when out for cocktails with friends
i can sip some amaretto sours,
but the one that raises eyebrows?
jack & coke.
it's a strong drink for a not-so-often drinker
but when made right, it can taste so good
with a nice steak dinner!

HodgePodge & Giveaway Reminder

Thursday, March 25, 2010

****Just a quick reminder to enter my give-a-way! You've still got some time, but let's be honest here - I love seeing new comments pop up under there. So, in my time of need (these exams and final papers may just do me in.... but fret not, somehow the giveaway will go on!) make this girl happy!***

I am one gigantic ball of stress. Here's my to-do list:

Due tomorrow: Paper on Medieval Science
Monday: Latin Exam (yes, the exam that you HAVE to pass to get your degree. Yes, it holds more weight in that department than the actual blasted thesis!). (9am)
Monday: Presentation for Medieval Science (1:30pm)
Tuesday: Exam for Religion & Authority (11am)
Wednesday: Oral Exam for East Central European Renaissance

Okay, so written out it doesn't look so bad, but I swear that Monday Latin Exam line is glowing and taunting me. Why must Latin and I be on such unfriendly terms? I like it! I just wish it was more willing to work with me rather than confuse me. [As a side note, I have learned more about the English language, grammar, and structure this year than all of the rest of my schooling combined. Strange, hunh?]

Oh, and I'm seriously having a love affair with WeHeartIt. Hence why I am overloading you with pictures I did not take (super-stress-ball-courtney does not carry her camera with her, because super-stress-ball-courtney takes really bad pictures). How did I not know about this website earlier? Also, why did I learn about it right before my exam/paper stress period? No good!

Also, I feel like I'm back in high school - Mom got me a Napster gift-card for Christmas, and I seriously love it. Now, it's not as fun as when you used to get all sorts of free music and had to play roulette as to which songs would download faster (remember the little red, yellow, and green lights it used to have to tell you which ones would download best?), and whether what you were downloading was actually the song you wanted or not. Now it's like the little annoying sister to iTunes. But it does have one feature I just love. Radio stations. Specifically one that plays awesome jazz. Studying has never been so chill.

Happy penultimate week of April!

Give-A-Way :)

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Sorry for the lack of updates and comments! This past week has been crazy, and as crazy as it has been, it's about to become ridiculous. I'm stressing just even thinking about it: 3 exams (one of which is Latin!), 4 more papers, and 2 presentations! Needless to say, I'm putting myself under some sort of self-imposed house arrest and into study/writing mode. This also means that I'm not going to be around the internets that often until I get back to the States April 3 (I will probably be around some between now and then as I use internet time as bribery for getting things accomplished!).

But, before I sign off and into my solitude I wanted to officially give you the details of my 1 year of blogging giveaway! You guys are so awesome, with all your comments and all your encouraging words and nice emails! I just couldn't not have one! So let's get this party started!

What You Could Win:
This is a two piece prize, which I hope you guys will love!

1) This Scarf
Scarves are HUGE over here, and I think this one (which is pretty lightweight) is perfect for the spring that I am so eagerly awaiting! It's gonna be hard to part with it, but you guys are worth it!

2) A print of this picture:
It's one of the prettiest places to photograph in Budapest - the Hungarian Parliament Building. You can chose what size you want (up to 11x14) and I will have it printed (in the matte not the glossy).

The Rules:
1. Be a follower (1 entry for new followers, 2 entries if you're already one!)
2. Leave a comment (1 entry)
3. Blog about this little giveaway (1 entry)
4. Tell me the place you most want to visit in the world and why (1 entry)

*Though obnoxious, please make sure to leave each entry as a separate comment. As stressed as I am now, separating out votes would not be good for me :)

Okay! There you have it! Hope you guys enjoy! The entry deadline will be April 4th (Easter Sunday) and I will hopefully be on top of picking a winner and getting the package sent out!

Happy Spring to everyone!!!

So They Say It's Your Birthday

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

So, I was seeing SO many of you having blogoversaries over the past month and I thought I'd look and see when mine was. Boy was I in for a surprise!!

I MISSED MINE!

Well, I missed it by about 5 days. Still, I missed it. I'm such a bad blog-mother.

When I started this blog I just wanted a place to bitch rant about life, whine about small things that no one else would listen to, and basically just a secondary public-ish journal. I wrote when I felt like it and didn't feel bad for not posting more than once a month. Heck, I had life going on and things to do. Plus, no one was reading it, so I only let myself down by not posting. I was on my hunt for post-bacc programs for med school, believed I would be at my job for another year until I was accepted into said post-bacc, and volunteering at the UNC Hospitals.

Life was good. Life was fun. Life was easy.

Life was in for a big change.

I got accepted into grad school. In. Budapest. I moved out of my lovely home of the past six year and crammed all of my worldly belongings into a UHaul and then back into my parent's house. And then I crossed that giant pond. I originally started this blog so that all my friends and family could gorge themselves on my adventures and be super jealous of live vicariously through me. I didn't know then that I'd have 40+ followers, let alone be sharing a trip/grad school adventure in Budapest with all of you! I I'm so glad I am though! You guys are the best. Seriously, your comments make me so happy!

So in honor of my belated birthday I'm going to host a little giveaway. Just cause you guys are so awesome. Give me a few days to find something suitable and I'll have another post about it. It's going to be mailed out when I get back to the States, so I've got a little bit of time (eep! 18 days until going home! eep! sooo much work to do.....!)
